Lansing Farmers Market Celebrates 100th Anniversary with Week-Long Festival

The Lansing City Market is marking its 100th anniversary this week with a series of special events celebrating a century of connecting Michigan farmers with local consumers. The festivities kicked off Saturday with a sunrise breakfast featuring ingredients sourced entirely from market vendors.

Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy live music from Michigan artists, cooking demonstrations by local chefs, and a historical exhibit tracing the market’s evolution from a small produce stand in 1926 to today’s thriving community hub with over 60 regular vendors.

Mayor Andy Schor declared this week Lansing Farmers Market Week and announced a $2 million city investment to upgrade the market’s facilities, including a new covered outdoor pavilion and expanded cold storage for vendors. The market serves an estimated 200,000 customers annually.
