According to the Detroit News, the State of Michigan has charged Libertarian LG nominee Beau Parmenter with larceny of more than $1,000 but less than $20,000. He had been fraudulently accepting wedding deposits while courts kept his venue closed. Parmenter snowballed what were just a few red-tape issues into a full-blown criminal investigation. Authorities arrested him Thursday, and he has since posted a $10,000 cash surety bond.
Before politics, Beau Parmenter ran a wedding venue, Country Barn Estates. During his time managing the venue, Shiawassee County found they were violating zoning ordinances and liquor license regulations.
Judge Matthew J. Stewart blocked CBE from hosting events until it acquired the proper permits. Parmenter kept hosting events illegally, and in 2025 the judge shut down his venue. He had taken security deposits from many prospective weddings and refused to return them after the court closed his venue.
Hudson defended his running mate, saying, “Under the 5th Amendment, no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law. We are a society that is innocent until proven guilty. And I will fight alongside any Michiganian, including my friend and Lieutenant Governor candidate Beau Parmenter, against any wrongful accusations.” Anthony Hudson later compared his running mate to Lindsay Clancy. Clancy is the woman who murdered her three children in Massachusetts.
According to a new Emerson College poll, Jocelyn Benson leads the race 49% to 42%, and the Hudson campaign is receiving 1% of the vote. The Libertarian Party has never won a statewide race in Michigan.
