Libertarian Party rescinds endorsement after Hudson ticket plagued with controversy.

Libertarian Party of Michigan Rescinds Endorsement of Anthony Hudson for Governor

In a shocking decision, the Libertarian Party of Michigan withdrew its endorsement of Anthony Hudson for Governor. In a resolution posted to the party’s social media pages, the party formally disavowed Hudson’s campaign. This action comes after a censure by the Libertarian Party earlier this month. The state party claimed Hudson’s “policy statements and platform positions… actively oppose foundational constitutional liberties.”

Hudson quickly fired back on Facebook, saying, “I would rather lose a political party than my principles. I will not be controlled.” He named each member of the Libertarian Party Executive Committee in his video and called them “party insiders.”

This race is Anthony Hudson’s third attempt to run for public office. He previously ran for Congress in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District and got 10.1% of the vote in a three-way Republican race. After losing that race, Hudson announced he was switching his focus to the Presidency. He failed to make the ballot in any state for the 2024 Presidential Election.

After both defeats, Hudson tried his hand at running for the GOP Michigan Gubernatorial nomination. He ran as a Republican before dropping out and switching to the Libertarian Party. He expressed that “party insiders” were keeping him off the debate stage after he failed to register any interest in most statewide polls. This led to his change in party affiliation.

As reported by Good Goose Gazette earlier this month, Hudson’s Lieutenant Governor nominee was charged with larceny and is currently out on bail. In the last four Michigan gubernatorial elections, no Libertarian candidate has cracked 1.5% of the vote in the general election.
