One of Michigan’s biggest annual events is back this week as Electric Forest returns to Rothbury for its 14th edition, drawing tens of thousands of music fans from across the country for four days of performances, camping, art installations and immersive experiences.

Held June 25-28 at the Double JJ Resort in Oceana County, Electric Forest has grown into one of the nation’s premier electronic music festivals. Organizers expect attendance to once again reach between 40,000 and 50,000 people, making it one of Michigan’s largest recurring music events.

This year’s lineup features some of electronic music’s biggest names, including Illenium, Excision, GRiZ, Kaskade, Chris Lake and longtime festival staple The String Cheese Incident. Other notable performers include Madeon, Purple Disco Machine, LSDream, Passion Pit, Bob Moses, Channel Tres and DJ Diesel’s highly anticipated back-to-back set with T-Pain, giving attendees a mix of EDM, jam bands, indie and hip-hop performances throughout the weekend.

Beyond its star-studded lineup, Electric Forest has become a signature event for Michigan’s tourism industry. The festival is known for transforming Sherwood Forest into an interactive art experience filled with elaborate lighting displays, sculptures, performers and hidden attractions, helping establish Michigan as a destination for one of the country’s most unique music festivals.

The economic impact extends well beyond the festival grounds. Hotels, campgrounds, restaurants and local businesses throughout Oceana County and surrounding communities see a significant influx of visitors each year as fans arrive days before performances begin.

With that surge in visitors also comes heavier traffic. Michigan State Police have warned motorists to expect significant delays on U.S. 31 and surrounding roads throughout the festival weekend as tens of thousands of attendees travel to and from Rothbury, encouraging both festivalgoers and local residents to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
