Pistons rise to the occasion led by all-star Cade Cunnignham

Pistons Force Game 7 in Dominant Performance

The Detroit Pistons refused to let their season end Friday night, dominating the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-94 in Game 6 to force a decisive Game 7 back in Detroit on Sunday.

After a tightly contested first half, the Pistons overwhelmed Cleveland with defense and physicality over the final two quarters, outscoring the Cavaliers 61-43 after halftime. Detroit forced 20 Cleveland turnovers and repeatedly turned those mistakes into transition opportunities.

All-Star guard Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 21 points and eight assists, continuing his strong postseason run. Center Jalen Duren delivered arguably his best playoff performance yet with 15 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks after facing criticism earlier in the series for inconsistent interior play.

Detroit also received major contributions from its supporting cast. Veteran reserve Paul Reed scored 17 points off the bench, while Ausar Thompson filled the stat sheet with 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals before fouling out late. The Pistons bench outplayed Cleveland’s second unit throughout the night and helped break open the game in the third quarter.

For Cleveland, James Harden scored a team-high 23 points but committed eight turnovers in a sloppy offensive showing. Donovan Mitchell added 18 points but struggled to consistently create offense against Detroit’s aggressive perimeter defense.

Now the series shifts back to Little Caesars Arena for a winner-take-all Game 7 on Sunday. The Pistons have already erased one 3-1 deficit earlier this postseason and will look to continue their surprising playoff surge in front of a friendly home crowd. Meanwhile, Cleveland will try to regroup quickly after suffering its first home loss of the playoffs and avoid a collapse after leading the series 3-2 just days ago.
