Michigan AG Charges Six Non-Citizens with Illegally Voting

In a press release issued last week, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that she charged five non-citizens with illegally voting and one citizen with registering their non-citizen spouse to vote in Michigan’s consequential 2024 general election.

The six individuals charged were Michael Akoiya (39) of Oak Park, Kimberly DiDontano (60) of Rose Township, Aldorna Harker (26) of Three Rivers, Harumi Michael (60) of Wolverine Lake, Robert Piva (67) of Roseville, and Bansath Sadasivan (29) of the United Kingdom.

Sadasivan is the only individual charged who did not live in the United States. He filled out a fake West Bloomfield Hills voter registration and voted overseas. He had a 2024 general election absentee ballot sent to him overseas that he returned to Michigan.

In the press release, Democrat Attorney General Dana Nessel appears to be already providing a defense to those who illegally voted: “Determining the point and manner of registration is essential for many of these cases because prosecuting residents over registrations made by agency error, when they made no false statement, is expressly prohibited by statute. If the government then encourages their vote or application for a ballot based upon that registration, entrapment by estoppel becomes a viable defense,” said Attorney General Nessel.

“This is the concept that criminal conduct may have occurred, but a conviction would be unjust when the defendant acted in reliance on a reasonable government authority.”

According to the Heritage Foundation, there have been 19 instances of election fraud in Michigan. These instances are new and separate from the previous listed cases reaching back as far as 2014.

These charges come after a report from the Michigan Secretary of State’s office, released in April 2025, that found 15 probable non-citizens had voted in the 2024 election.

Currently, the Michigan Department of the Attorney General is reviewing over 22 open cases referred in 2025 and 2026 for illegal voting activities.
